Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association
Yellowstone Snowmobile Access

In the December President’s Corner, I stated that Congressman Tim Holden was a signatory to a letter written by US House of Representative members to the Director of the National Park Service demanding that snowmobiles be banned from the Park.

I had received the information that Congressman Holden was one of the 86 signatories from the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association, who received the information from a group in Washington DC that monitors issues such as these.  This information was apparently distributed in many circles.

Congressman Holden took the time to personally call me, as well as the PSSA Office, to emphasize that he supports snowmobile access to Yellowstone.  The Congressman stated he was NOT one of the 86 Congress members who signed the letter.  The signature of another Congressman had apparently been mis-read as being Mr. Holden’s.  He also indicated that he was hearing from our members by phone and in person and wished to set the record straight.

I regret this error occurred.  I thank all the members who took the time to contact the Congressman.  I have been in touch with the Executive Director of ISMA and a formal apology will be forthcoming to Congressman Holden.
