PSSA Safety and Trails Committee Reports
Safety: Harrison Langley, Jr.
1It is important for clubs and instructors to schedule their 2010-11 youth safety courses as-soon-as possible and e-mail the details to the "Keystone Snowmobiler" to be included in that publication and also the PSSA website.

2. The Safety Committee has initially contacted the PA Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) about the creation of an emergency worker volunteer pool for heavy snow events. Once the requirements and the general process are determined, PSSA will coordinate with PEMA to develop the implementation process.

3. Since there is no legislative mandate requiring adult safety certification, please remember:

*Please DO NOT include the names of adults on the Student Rosters that you submit.
*Please CONTINUE to allow adults to audit your safety courses as continued dissemination of the safe snowmobiling message is important for the continued health of our sport.

Trails: Liz Krug

Thanks to the Trails Mini-grant Committee volunteers.  All mini-grant money was distributed to clubs.

ANF grooming continues to present challenges in terms of adequate funding and equipment maintenance.  Thanks to the clubs who help with the grooming and trail maintenance.

A grant application to include GPS equipment for groomers and money to cover trail maintenance and grooming has been submitted by PSSA and to DCNR.

Clubs need to keep accurate records of expenditures.  These will be needed for future grants.

Information concerning the names of gas/electric companies in areas that have trails is requested.  Send all information to PSSA.
