The following year, PSSA presented a proposal to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) that outlined this vision of a viable snowmobile trail system featuring quality trail maintenance, mapping, grooming, and signage throughout the Commonwealth.
The ability to fund snowmobile clubs' small statewide trail maintenance and improvement projects in a timely manner was viewed as a critical component of the Association’s planning to make that vision a reality.
The Mini-Grant Program, subsequently funded by DCNR and initiated in 2007, is the first step toward meeting that need.
In four MiniGrant rounds, PSSA awarded more than $60,000. to sixteen (16) different snowmobile clubs to aid with the cost of grooming, trail maintenance, and construction.
In 2010, PSSA was again awarded $160,000 to aid legally constituted snowmobile clubs in Pennsylvania.
