Groomed trails await you, rustic inns, restaurants, hotels and resorts welcome you, and friendly, helpful people will make your cool winter riding experience warm and memorable.

With 6,000 miles of marked trails to explore, 1/2 are on public lands and 1/2 are private land trails, you’ll run out of winter long before you run out of places to snowmobile in Pennsylvania. So hop on your sled and Blaze a Trail!

Snowmobile season on State Parks and State Forest Lands begins the day after the end of antlerless deer season and runs to April 1st .  See current trail information here.

Riding on State Game Lands, where permitted, begins the third Sunday in January.

Contact local clubs for trails on private land open to the public. Our snowmobile clubs maintain 1/2 of all trails.

Riding on State Lands

Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reminds us that spring, summer and fall are not the only times to enjoy Pennsylvania state parks. Visitors find a surprising number of activities that are best enjoyed in the snowy landscape.

Most parks offer designated snowmobile trails for exploration. Others designate large, open spaces for snowmobiling. State parks also provide trailhead access to snowmobile trails on state forest land. And please remember, in order to ride on State lands:

• A snowmobile must be properly registered with the snowmobile unit in the Bureau of Forestry, DCNR, and have the permit visibly displayed.

• Any youth under the age of 16 MUST have safety certification before they can operate a snowmobile off their parents’ property.

• All riders are required to wear an approved helmet.

• Liability insurance is required.
