Moving Forward – February 2025

Hello, everyone!

Here in northwestern Pennsylvania we received a lot of snow for some terrific riding! We see that the central and eastern areas were hit with a good amount of the white stuff as well. Of course, we are all grateful as we are so overdue for these conditions.  I hope all snowmobilers across our state got some riding in somewhere with family and friends!

The word is out that another round of DCNR mini grants are available. Please check the Keystone Snowmobiler for details.

Two weeks ago there was an unfortunate incident that was covered in the news where an animal on the trail was being chased and injured by snowmobilers. Wild animals are simply looking for food and a break from the deep snow. The Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association clearly does not condone this behavior in any way and we are completely outraged by the actions of the snowmobilers covered by this news report. Please leave all wildlife alone and respect their presence in the wild while riding. This behavior gives our sport a bad name.

Our riders are enjoying the new PA Trail Conditions application. Feedback helps us continue the learning process. We are working to get all club trails on this program and need everyone to be involved in this process. Contact the PSSA office if you would like to get more information on PA Trail Conditions.

In addition, the PSSA Spring Meeting scheduled for April 12th, 2025, will be held once again at Best Line Powersports in Centre Hall, PA.  The Keystone Snowmobiler will have all the details.

Ride safely and enjoy the snow!

Thanks,

Rich Hayes
