Moving Forward January 2017

MOVING FORWARD

January 2017

Happy Holidays to everyone! May the New Year bring you much peace, joy and happiness!

The Board has been busy analyzing the results of the recent Powersport Show. We received many positive comments and suggestions for next year. As we all know it takes many volunteers to make a successful show. Thank you again to anyone who helped in any way. Without Michelle and Blizzard’s donation of trailers it would be difficult to have a profitable show. Thank you Michelle.

Concerning the trails Glenn Knisely and I looked at the Penn’s Creek area for a possible connection with the Bald Eagle trails. Currently a realtor is checking owners and deeds in the area. When we have current and reliable information we will meet with the interested parties.

Our state-wide video project is moving forward. Lori Elliott, Grant Administrator, has been contacting the Visitor Bureaus for the promotion of this video. Currently Video Mike will be touring the Poconos, Cameron, Forest Counties, the Allegheny National Forest, Wayne, Carbon, Huntingdon in year one (weather permitting). If we receive a grant from Somerset County then Fayette and Westmoreland Counties will be added to this aggressive schedule. Lori Elliott will be contacting other areas of the state for year two. This Video will be seen on the national TV show Snow Trails TV On Destination America and a copy will be provided to all sponsors. This Video is a good way to showcase PSSA, your area and your club. Contact Lori for more information.

Board members were recently introduced to a new mapping program thru North Central Planning. This program will allow individuals to make changes on their maps using a cell phone or iPad etc. Changes will be automatically uploaded to a trail website. Access can be limited or made available to the general public.

PSSA recently received a positive reply to our proposal to increase the registration fee and form a Public, Private, Partnership (P3) with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (letters enclosed)

Having the endorsement of the Advisory Council to the Secretary of DCNR is a great tribute to our ideas of what is needed to improve our snowmobile system. I will keep you posted as this project moves forward.

You will be receiving tickets for our annual Spring Raffle. The three prizes are: $6000 Voucher, $1000 Voucher and a $500 Voucher to be used at a PSSA Dealer. Tickets are $10.00 or three for $20.00 You cannot win unless you have a ticket!

The Spring Membership Meeting will be held on May 13, 2017 at the Ramada Golf and Conference Center beginning at 9am. We are in need of suggestions for speakers. If you have any ideas please send them to me ASAP.
