Moving Forward – July 2021

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! Celebrate our freedoms and enjoy our democracy! Be Safe.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PEGGY AND HENRY HARTMANThey were nominated and are part of the Class of 2021 International Snowmobile Hall of Fame Inductees. Peggy and Henry have been members and volunteers of PSSA for many years. Thank you for your service. A complete resume can be found on our Website, FaceBook and Newsletter. At the last Board meeting (June 30, 2021) Norm Strotman of Bradford was elected to replace Chick Walter who had recently resigned. Norm has been serving on committees and meeting with ANF personnel and Carolyn Stroup to bridge the gap between the ANF trails and Lantz Corners. Once this part of the trail and crossing is finalized one will be able to ride to the Kinzua Bridge. Along with Dan Dart and the Smethport club Norm is working to extend the trail to the east and south to Elk State Park. Please welcome Norm Strotman to the Board.

Trail Committees have been organized to deal with trail possibilities in all areas of Pennsylvania. Randy Green and Rob Housley (Region 9) have been working tirelessly to contact clubs in the Central part of the state. We need all clubs cooperation to extend trails and provide for more riding opportunities across the state.

Cindy Barrick, Secretary and member of the DCNR Trails Advisory Committee has been working with DCNR to return Safety Classes to the clubs. Although there is an on-line Safety Class this class does not cover “hands on” aspects of safe riding. Both thesnowmobile community and ATV community have expressed a need for these classes.

The PowerSport Committee continues to meet in the event that enough vendors have inventory to cover the show. Vendors are being polled now. Several have related that accessories and parts are difficult to keep in stock or are on back order. Machines are hard to obtain and difficult to keep on the floor. Vendors are the backbone of the show. Keep in touch.

Check the DCNR website for information concerning the Pilot ATV Program in Potter County. Be Safe. Get out and enjoy nature!
